Critical Reflection

The initial goal that I would like to achieve for this course is to be out of my comfort zone and be more confident in my communication and writing skills. It was a fulfilling journey throughout the thirteen weeks engaging in the Effective Communication module. This module is effective for me to equip myself to convey the key information to the targeted audience with enthusiasm and passion using the main pointers. The main points that I learned were such as having consistent eye contact, giving a speech with proper tone and being professional during a presentation will have a better engagement with the audience. Through this module, I feel proud and confident to give a public speech in the future. Overall, I think that adequate preparation for the presentation does affect my performance during presentations. This is because I feel more confident and ready to present. Hence, this will reduce me from feeling anxious and nervous preventing me from stuttering and fidgeting during a presentation. With this, I will be more prone to have eye contact rather than reading my notes and reduce unnecessary hand gestures. Besides, I gained more knowledge in my writing skills such as writing emails and writing technical reports with a proper language and grammar used. This module encourages me to be more hardworking in doing research and providing key ideas in brainstorming

My team and I faced a few challenges at the beginning. With the challenges we faced, we decided to delegate the task among ourselves as to expedite the process to find the problems that can be further improved. As this took us quite some time, we managed to progress from one task to another. Overall, the technical report has been a challenging experience. With dedication and hard work, my team and I managed to overcome those challenges and was delighted with the outcome of our report. I appreciate the efforts that my team and I had put to make this final hurdle of this module a great and memorable experience.

In conclusion, I feel that this module overall provides the most important skills that I must acquire for my future endeavours and upcoming internship. I enjoyed working with my team and being able to get to know about each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, I am able to gain knowledge from each team member. Lastly, I would like to thank Professor Blackstone for putting in the effort to make the class enjoyable most of the time and giving us feedback for every assignment so as we could further improve on before the stipulated submission date.
