Force-Sensing Gloves Summary First Draft

In the article entitled "Force-Sensing Gloves Cloud Control An iPhone By Detecting Gestures and How Objects Are Gripped," Owen (2019) mentions that Apple wanted to create a glove technically competent of engaging with technologies for individuals. This glove is made of fabric meshed with conductive layers that enable tracking of the glove when the user touches a surface. In addition, this glove will sense how much pressure is applied and the number of fingers used. The author also states that Apple will look at different ways a user can control an application without interacting with the touchscreen. The glove will include conductive strands that are woven together with normal threads and thus able to monitor contact outside while the inside contains sensor for compression from the fingers. He also added that it opens up opportunities for force-sensing gloves replacing handheld controllers in VR and AR.

Critical Reflection

The initial goal that I would like to achieve for this course is to be out of my comfort zone and be more confident in my communication and writing skills. It was a fulfilling journey throughout the thirteen weeks engaging in the Effective Communication module. This module is effective for me to equip myself to convey the key information to the targeted audience with enthusiasm and passion using the main pointers. The main points that I learned were such as having consistent eye contact, giving a speech with proper tone and being professional during a presentation will have a better engagement with the audience. Through this module, I feel proud and confident to give a public speech in the future. Overall, I think that adequate preparation for the presentation does affect my performance during presentations.
